12 bolt posi

how wide is a rear diff housing on a F body car and does anyone know of any 12 bolts that just slide under thats the right length or a tiny bit shorter doesn't matter waht bracets are would be nice if their were the same. and also how hard is it to put a 4 link rear end in or if its worth it im only goign to be making about 370 to 425 hp when its done and want to be run around low 11s to mid 12s in a 1/4 mile with out going super cheep what can i get a way with im in no rush to do it but i just wanna do it right with out way over doing i don't want to have to change my rear end every couple of years

thanks

Re: 12 bolt posi

i got a 12-bolt from moser engineering. its pretty much a direct bolt up, stock fit. the company is great to work with and they send the thing pre-assembled and read to install. there are a couple things you gotta do to make everything match up, but all in all its a great set up...

Chevyracin I'm sure your 3.4 really needed a 12 bolt...

Re: 12 bolt posi

you can make anything fit. i know that the ford 9" is popular. i went with 12 bolt cause it was easiest to put in (was my train of thinking atleast)

all together i paid over 3 grand for the entire project. the rear-end itself was 2.5K and then another couple hundred for a driveshaft. my case was abnormal though cause i had to do extra stuff to get it to fit cause of the rear-end i got. the one you would get might be cheapier than that...

Re: 12 bolt posi

k thanks becuase i want an ok rearend that will last a while cuz my brother said if a 8.8" inch can go in with out doing any major work that he could get one made up for a couple hundred bucks and i would be happy with that and i do not go way over board and spend way more then i should off

Re: 12 bolt posi

yeah, you can get the moser for about a grand but it wont be as bad ass. mine is a circle track axle that can handle over 750 hp, as is, but i had to pay for it...

Re: 12 bolt posi

hate to be a downer, but chances of you running 11's are pretty slim with 375 to 425hp. But even so, i think the cost of a 12 bolt for that power level, and the fact that you plan on selling it down the road, makes it not worth it. Also not to be a dick, but on average, youre going to make less power than you aim for, so im quite sure that if you proporly set up your ten bolt rear youll be just fine.
