Please respond back with a little more information. You said it is a 2.8L V6, what year? How many miles are on this engine? When was the oil changed last? Has the maintenance been kept up, meaning regular oil changes? Was the vehicle ever wrecked? Can you give us an approximate size of the metal flakes?

Change your oil and see if the drainplug magnet has any flakes on it. Report back with whatever you find.

Re: metal flakes in oil.

If the flakes are non-magnetic, they are probably from the bearings. Not good. Time to repair or replace motor.
