Overheating '89 Dynasty

My 1989 Dodge Dynasty is overheating especially when driven at highway speeds. I have made sure the coolant is full. When I stop at my destination there is a gurgle noise and coolant comes out from the right of my car. It doesn't seem to leak at any other time. This does not happen when driven short distances. Also my heater doesn't work. Could a blocked hose to the heater core cause this? What can I check and what could cause this? Thanks in advance.

when was the last time you had your cooling system flushed? Sounds like one of two things: 1) you have a clog somewhere either in your radiator, engine block or heater core. 2) you have a blown head gasket. To check for that, pull your engine oil dipstick and look at the color of the oil; if it's milky-looking or looks very light, that means you have coolant mixing w/ your oil and you, unfortunately, have a blown head gasket.

Well, I found out what the problem was. I took my car for a radiator flush and I found out that the plastic seam along the radiator was leaking slightly. When they pressurized the system it came spurting out there...they were very nice at least because they didn't charge me for the radiator flush. I then had to go down and buy a new rad...my husband is going to put it in himself...wish me luck!
