2002 300M Question

Hi Guys!

I'm changing the motor oil in my mother-in-law's 2002 300M.

I'm trying to find out what type of motor oil is used from the dealer.

My girlfriend used to have a 1994 LHS, so I had used 10W40 for her 3.5 V6.

When I removed the old motor oil from my mother-in-law's car, it had a reddish tint. I know this wasn't the tranny oil because the tranny pan is behind the oil pan, plus the residue from the oil cap showed the same reddish fluid.

Anyone know if this is some special oil from the dealer?
Maybe synthetic?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: 2002 300M Question

Nope just regular oil is ok, I use Synth Blend 5w30, but 10w30 or 10w40 is ok
