Re: finally back to the forums

Im getting 5000$ for it. Realistically I wouldn't have sold it for less than about 10 grand, just because of the sentimental value it had, but I was expecting to get snubbed on the property claim. Considering the blue book on the car is 3400, I am happy with 5000$, (but not really).

However, I am going to take that cash and get certified as a master tech in Daytona Florida. There is a 9 week course that costs 3900$. It teaches fiberglass, stereo installation, and 12V electrical. After that I'm gonna move back to Maui and get a job at a stereo shop (the job is lined up already) and drive an 89 accord for a while (the accord is lined up already too...300$), until I can buy another T Bird and pimp it out.

Unless I like florida better than Hawaii. (but I doubt it)

Re: finally back to the forums

I'm not sure about the title "master tech" because it was someone else who told me that, but I know you get certified in multiple areas of car customization, including fiberglass, 12V electric, and stereos. Its about 3900$ and they provide you with a place to stay close by. My cousin went to that school, and he is very good with fiberglass. He's done a number of show cars, one of which took 3rd place in a national competition. So, I figure that school will be good enough for me too.

I still have to ask my cousin to give me all the info on it, but if you want, I will post it in case you are interested as well. I know that I plan on owning my own car customizing shop one day and I plan to mainly do fiberglass and stereo installs, so this is right up my alley. Im pretty excited about it.

BTW.. welcome back JROC

Re: finally back to the forums

I just got all the info on the school. Apparently it was 3900$ several years ago. Now it is $5300 for the five course package (that includes dorm costs). The name of the school is "Installers Institute". Here is a link:
www.installersinstitute.com

I was planning on it being a tight squeeze when I thought it was 3900, but I guess I will have to pay some with credit now. Oh well though.. its what I wanna do.

JROC.. sorry to hear about the split up. I know how that goes.

Re: finally back to the forums

Wow, thanks Rick! I have always loved customizing my stuff, and have always wanted formal training in what that course offers. I never thought, tho, that there would be a program that offers all of it together. Thanks again, man! Btw, do you have a specific date set to go? I called them and am waiting to find out if they accept the Montgomery GI Bill. Couldn't afford it any other way.

Oh yeah, welcom back J_ROC! Sorry to hijack your thread like this, man. Meant to welcome ya back the first time around. :P
