b18 swap question???

Alright so i have a 94 teg and i'm an idiot and lost my license. So i want to start a project while i'm waiting......why not right?!?! I can get a 89' crx si shell for 400$ and i was wondering how hard it would be to put a turbo b18b1 in it.........like can i use my axles off of my teg, and can i switch the suspension out off of my teg onto the crx. I have the tools and the knowledge to do all of this, i have tried reaserching this but cant seem to find a whole lot about it. also what should i do for the shift linkage...buy one or (if possible) use the tegs just "modify" it. ....thanks alot for any info

Re: b18 swap question???

you use the tegs linkage, u can use the teg springs, not sure about the struts, youll need aftermarket mounts, obd1 conversion (easier to get a harness to convert) oh and yes you use the teg axles.

Re: b18 swap question???

it would be easier to get a conversion linkage for you car because the 94+ linkage doesn't work even if you cut it.
No, you won't be able to use the axles. You have to find some from a 90-91 or from a 92-93(non-abs)

you will also need to find a cable bseries tranny unless you wanted to convert your crx to a hydro tranny setup which will set you back a few hundred bucks from hasport (it's not worth it IMO for a hydro LS tranny).

Re: b18 swap question???

wrong bambam you can use the 94+ teg axles, you just need to use 94+ axle seals on the tranny.

its pretty much use whatever axles you want 90-93 or 94+, you just need to use the same axle seals

Um idunno? The 94 teg axles are shorter 475mm-480mm. While the 2nd gen tegs are 485-490mm. Not much but there better. The 94+ teg ones will work as long as they are matching the tranny.

I was making that statement assuming he would be using the cable tranny. You don't want to use the 94+ axles if you are going to be using the cable tranny....it would cause (minor) binding problems.

Im no b-series expert, but wont the shorter 94+ axles risk slipping out of the knuckles?
