carbon fiber

does anyone have a technique for drawing carbon fiber? mine doesnt quite make it look like its carbon fiber.

Draw lines, varying dark, light, dark, light, dark, light. Dont draw each individual square. Look at some CF pics and study it.

Another possible way is to draw a black hood, then take some frisket and draw the "carbon fiber lines" on the frisket. After that take a very light pencil (3h, 4h) and go over the hood to soften (make less white) the "carbon fiber lines" I haven't actually tried this method, but it might work... only with graphite though

i ever used gauze to draw cf, but u have to push hard to get it onto the paper...

shade the hood as if it were black. Then take your time and put checkerboard lines in the lighter areas. Keep in mind the lines (chekerboard) should look as if it were laying on the hood/lip/whatever.
