Engine Code P1296

I have a 01 A41.8TQT with about 55k miles, and I just had my MIL come on. I ran the code with my scanner, and it turns out to be a P1296. I don't have the bentley service manual, I bought the cheap haynes manual for it, and the code isn't listed in there. I swear I have seen a post on this before, but can't find it. If anyone can tell me what it is, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply, but i check some codes for VW's and it was the coolant temp. sensor. it sends a signal to the Gauge and the ECU, the ECU side of it was bad.
