max boost?

what the most boost you can run on an eclipse with stock internals? is it the same for 1g and 2g engines?

Re: max boost?

on a 2g turbo, t25.. the turbo won't be too much for the stock engine. you could run as much as you want, the most efficient being 16psi.

on a 1g turbo, 14b, you don't have the fuel system to turn it up all the way.

On both cars, the stock turbo will not be too much power for stock internals. There are stock internals doing 550whp.

Re: max boost?

Just to make a point, the limit of the stock internals has nothing to do with boost directly. A 14b at 25 psi, and my car at 25 psi, will make very different power levels. The limit of the rods will be cylinder pressure. Wether thats created by lots of torque (airflow per revolution) or knock (cylinder pressure spikes like crazy with knock), the result is the same. This is why its possible to bend rods at 550 whp tuned well, or even at 300 whp with some knock. Pistons usually only die from knock. It just knocks the upper ring land off. There are pictures on my site that shows pistons that have been wrecked by detonation.

That being said, its commonly accepted that 6 bolt motors will do well over 500 whp on stock shortblock, and now many people are doing the same on the 7 bolt motors despite smaller rods. I tend to hold 450 whp as the limit ofr 7 bolts, but I never tested that
