2.8l to 4.3l swap question

I have a 1989 4x4 4.3l s10 blazer that has a bent frame. I can get a 87 4x4 2.8l blazer for free. I can swap every thing over, but my one question is do I need special motor mounts? or will the 4.3l motor mounts mount to the 2.8l frame? Thanks, Cory

Re: 2.8l to 4.3l swap question

I might be wrong but all the holes for the 4.3L motor mounts are probably already on the truck, so it should be an easy swap.
If they aren't there how hard can it be to just drill them out, just make sure that they are in the right place, and that there is nothing behind to drill through.

Good luck, and give yourself 3 weeks or so to get the job done. You'll have to switch the transmission along with the motor.

Your probably better off just getting the frame straightened.

I did a swap from an 89' blazer 4.3 into an 84' S-10 2.8... motor mounts switched perfectly, no fabrication needed for that... are you swaping trans too? if not what trans is in the Blazer?

I'll be swapping just the frame and transfering everything from the 4.3l frame to the 2.8l frame. This will give me the chance to rebuild the suspension (belltech 4x4 lowering kit) and paint the frame all at once. I rent a storage trailer that use to be an overseas shipping container, it has heavy tie down loops on the ceiling. I'm going to lift the body off by using heavy duty ratchet straps and 4"x4" boards, then slide the frame out for the swap. Its good to know that the 4.3l will bolt to the 2.8l frame, I didn't want to get half way into the project and not have it work.
