On the road, But still more Problems

I got my Century on the road finally! After figuring out that my starting problem was the battery, i went from there. My car fail e test twice ( i live in Ontario Canada) and the it finally passed. Now my problem is the windows. I am going to work on them at a body shop because the doors need to be taken off. I will try to get pictures and i will tell the whole process of what i did and ill get pictures of the insed for other people to see. Wish me luck!

If your wondows are not working then it is likely the wiring in the doors. More specifically the frount doors. Try this post: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=245575

Re: On the road, But still more Problems

i know its a wiring problem, that why i said i have to take the door off. Read into messages a little further and you will save yourself some typing. the thing is, most of the wires are cut in the front drivers door, and there is one in particular that supplies power to the window switches. i pulled it apart and now they dont work totally. Luckily it didnt disable the powerlock switch.

Actually I read the entire post before I posted, just felt maybe you didn't need to take the entire door off. I'm sure your a capable mechanic, no need to get short, do things any way you want. Hope you have a better day.

The only other thing I can offer other than the posted link is when you get started pull the negative battery cable (you have a hot wire loose that could short out other things). If it's a 87 through 96 here is the wiring diagram.
Left = Driver side.

Left Front= One Dark Blue Wire and One Brown Wire

Left Rear= One Dark Green Wire and One Purple Wire

Right Front= One Dark Blue and White Striped Wire and One Tan and White Striped Wire

Right Rear= One Light Green Wire and One Purple and White Striped Wire

Pink = Hot Everywhere

These wires run from the main driver switch to thier own respective switches (I think). Each door has diffrent color wires running from each switch to it's own motor and that diagram is not covered here.

And after thought is if you take off the door your still going to have to deal with the wires not cut keeping the door from comming off. there may be a wire harness block you can undo but I don't remember easy access to that when I had to do mine. On the plus side you might avoid cutting the boots if you can get the door off but as far as I can tell they do a poor job of protecting the wires anyway.

Yeah, the door boot is already cut, and most of the wires are cut already. The green wire and pink wire were crimped together, but i pulled apart the pink one. I need to take to door off to get my hand in there because it is too tight a fit. THanks for your help.

Re: On the road, But still more Problems

My car is a peice of shit. But it does burnouts... still havent rolled up the windows yet, havent had the time or place to take the door off and connect all the wires. Now my problem is exhaust, and im waiting for an opportune time to take it into the muffler shop, get the pipe fixed, and a 3 inch tailpip put on it. Yesterday i did a burnout with my car. My trnsmission is screwy, i floor it, and if i keep it floored in first gear, it will over rev and activate the rev limiter. I know i have to top up the fluid, but if it still happens, would anyone know what the hell is wrong?

The problem is the owner has no clue

If you spend $250 for a car expect to make lots of repairs. Treat the car like your grandfather. Abusing a car that needs repairing only makes things worse.
