junk spam

Any body getting dozens of loan offers or opportunities for money from Africa after getting on this forum site? I am getting dozens of them a week with my screen name on them . So I know they originated from here .

nope but I always get spam.....The only thing I can think of is if you tell it to keep you logged in or remember your username than it is stored in a cookie on your computer. And than if you have anything on your computer that coulkd be sending out info from your cookies that could be how they are getting your username from this forum to your email.

Sounds like you have yourself a key stroke and data logger. AKA Spyware. Spyware is a program that runs hidden and tracks your activity. Lots of sites use spyware, Mostly for advertising purposes, but some of use it maleciously. My system (McAfee Firewall, McAfee VirusScan, AOL spyware protection, Ad-Aware, SpyBot Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster) hasn't notified me of any on this site so you didn't get it hear. What has happened is you got it while browsing another site and it logged your key strokes here, which gave it your info and reported it back to the site that is sending you spam.

Here is a link to download SpyBot Search and Destroy, it is a free spyware cleaner. It doesn't get them all, but will get most of them.

Ad-Aware is a good one too, but you have to pay for it. There is a way to download it for free if you have the right link. I will try to find it and post it here

I use both Spybot and Ad-aware. They both find things that each other miss.

As far as junk spam, I never have had a problem on this forum with the email account I used here. I use the email account for other message boards as well, so it has seen a lot of usage. But I don't have a junk mail issue.
