Sounds like you have some broken wires in your steering column. This is quite common with tilt columns. When the column is tilted it wears at the wires, and will break the wire inside the insulation, causing intermittant failures. My '95 is starting to have this problem also, but not to the extent yours sounds like.

Check all your turn signal bulbs and brake lights, there could be one or a couple burnt out, also change out the flasher in the fuse box.

Re: Rblinker trouble

You Might Want To Check Dimmer Switch Because Mine Went Out On 95 Monte And The Brake Lights Would Not Work At All. You Might Try That!!!!

Re: blinker trouble

I had the same problem in my 2000 Monte. I just hit the hazard lights on a few times and eventually it went away. I do not know what was causing it but it has not happened for about 6 months now.

Re: blinker trouble

I also have a 2000 Monte Carlo with the same problem the turn signal will intermitantly stop working and all I have had to do is hit the 4 way flasher on and off and then the turn signals will work again. The dealer say he cannot do anything untill they go completly out so they can trouble shoot the problem.

Re: blinker trouble

I have a similer problem in with my '98 Crown Vic. I searched the Alldata file at the library and found that there is a Lighting Control Module (LCM), that is buried under the dash board. The discription of the problem describe what my directionals were doing. Which is the following: Left turn was intermittent, i.e., sometimes it would work, and sometimes it wouldn't. I found if I toggled the flasher, or toggle the headlight flasher, the left turn flasher would work. Also, for a right turn, the 'clicker' was rapid, usualy indicating a blown bulb, however, when I checked the bulbs, they were flashing at the right timing. Again, the right turn rapid 'clicking' is intermittent. Again, what I read in the alldata file described the problem to a 'T'. Hopefully this info will be useful to you. Regards, Argentfox.

Re: blinker trouble

Sorry, I forgot to say that the LCM, was the problem according to the Alldata, file. I didn't change it, because it looks like too much trouble to change it. Argentfox.
