most complicated problem ever

i have a 90 hatch si with a b16a now my problem is this. i went to beep my horn and the horn did not beep, instead the light on the cluster that says the door is open and the light that says your seatbelt isnt on came on along with the beeping indicating that the door was open. In addition to that my brake lights are stuck on and when i press the brake pedal the same exact thing happens when i hit the horn. what is going on? This bullshit happened all of a sudden. i didnt touch or mess with anything it just popped up out of nowhere. Any solutions from the fourth gen GODS? please help

Re: most complicated problem ever

i worked on a taurus whitch is a little differ but when you steped on the brake pedal the horn honked and the head lights would come on instead of brake lights. turned out some wires touched in the harness and melted the cover off the wires and sent signals in the wrong direction. If you pieced together a harness then go over everything you connected if it is a stock harness you maybe able to get a new harness cheaper than the trouble of finding the prob. But it definatly sounds like a wiring question. We ended up replacing the whole harness on the taurus and it fixed the prob but we never found the short in the harness.

This may sound real wierd, but do you have a compass? Ive never tried doing it myself, but my electrical teacher was talking about it today. What you do is take a compass, turn the key on (or turn the circuit on that you think is shorting) and run the compass along that wire or the harness if your not sure which wire it is. Once you see the compass sort of twich and move around, youve found the short. I guess shorts create a slight magnetic field which will interrupt the compass's normal field.

you can see here that the brake light and horn switch share the same circuit. As do the seatbelt warning and door ajar warning. so focus on those two circuits.

Re: most complicated problem ever

My problem is very complicated. My car Runs fine and always starts right up. If you step on the gas real easy you can get it to rev , but if you try pressing on it with normal pressure it bogs itself out and stalls
