ok, short of it, i have a 95 Blazer. bought it an a week later had a gas leak. took it out and someone who had it burnt the front vent on the gas tank (its a 4 door blazer) the back one is fine. so i got the bright idea to j b weld the vent up. well it ran fine for about two weeks the started cutting out, well parked it then it would just crank, run for two seconds then back fire an die. really bad rough idle, im assuming its where i j b welded the tank, so i oreded a new tank since that one is usless, well now it didnt come with the vents in the new one an can't find them as a replacement part can anyone help, an do you think it might be a diff problem?

But the problem sounds like the EGR valve has a piece of carbon blocking the pintle open. Remove, clean and replace the EGR valve along with a new EGR gasket to fix if indeed the valve is blocked open.

Re: Gas Tank Vents
If the vent was the problem, leaving the gas cap off would be a good test....I don't think that the vent is the problem either. Is it possible that some JB weld fell into the tank and now clogging the pump?
Are there holes in the tank where the valves should be or is it just blank? In either case, time to go back to the dealer. |

Re: Gas Tank Vents
Realize just because the fuel pump is new, doesn't mean it didn't go bad. You may also want to look at replacing the pulsator unit as well.

Re: Gas Tank Vents
Did you even try to find out where the EGR valve was?

yes......ive changed the one on my 93 chev truck, so i know what an where it is on my truck so i know what to look for. but i have a CHILTON book (for the blazer)that only shows the TBI for the blazer, the book sucks an cant find or really know what the one on the Blazer looks like. its Vortec in the Blazer, an it has no pic of it. so the answer is yes ive looked for it...that why there were so many days between my posts, im sorry if your getting agrevated because im asking......

Re: Gas Tank Vents
Look at the front of the engine. Between the alternator and AC compressor is the EGR valve. Has an electrical connector on top (no vacuum hose). Held on by two 10mm bolts.
