Re: How to lift it
Scuba,
I have a 2" lift(coil spacer, add-a-leaf) would recommend a 3" lift, you'll be happier. |

Re: How to lift it
What year is your xj? I have a 92 and it is lifted with the spacer shackle method. I believe I still have the instructions somewhere. One thing to please, please remember is that the upper bolt for the rear shackle is welded on the inside of the psuedo frame rail. If the weld breaks on that nut, there is some work involved to repair it. Main thing, take your time and go slow.

Mine is a 1993, did you have any driveability issues?

Re: How to lift it
After even a 2" LIFT YOU WILL NEED AN ALIGNMENT! That should be the only thing you should notice.

Re: How to lift it
hey Scuba, I have a pair of stock ZJ coils you may want. they will give you 1in lift over stock and combine them with the spacers to give you more. they also flex better than the XJ coils.

Re: How to lift it
Scuba, to be honest, the ride has actually improved believe it or not. I am very pleased with the outcome. I need to trim the exhaust. the bottom bolt on the shackle hits the exhaust tip. Other than that all is well.

Re: How to lift it
No, it was not hard at all. The hardest thing for me was taking my time on the rear. It helps a lot to have some help with you, more muscle than brains as far as the help goes. Just being careful and not rushing you can make it through pretty easy. I could not find my instructions, but i know they are posted on the net somewhere, once I find them, I'll post the link for you. Right now, I have 31 x 10.50 on stock 95 Wrangler rims. Given the mountain like terrain in Houston, Tx (lol) they wor fine.

With the bigger tires do you have any issues with the speedo being out of wack? |

Re: How to lift it
thinmints,
yes, any time you change tires/gears it is good to have your speedo calibrated. When I finished with the lift etc, I had to change the gear in the tranny. I used this article as a guide and it was easy http://www.jeepin.com/features/speedogear/index.asp |
