97 LeSabre Electrical Problem

Car lost electrical power on highway doing 55 mph. The clock reset to 1:00 but the radio stations held. Pulled off to the shoulder and was able to restart just by turning the key. The car sometimes doesn't start from park also. The battery and alternator check out ok. Any ideas?

Possible crankshaft position switch

Have a '97 lesabre and car would just die especially at higher speeds. Didn't set check engine light, but pulled history codes with scan tool. Found crankshaft position circuit problem. Replaced this switch and has been fine now for four months.

hi
i had same problem,on high way the car lost power almost shuts off, then the light came back on insturment panel, at first i thought is pcm<computer> because i hear a click noise in ash board passender side ,
i also suspect default fuel pump,
i checked the release valve for gas pressure, it was ok.

then one day i coudent start the car because was no power,

i took off the both cables off the battrey, the <-> ws clean , but the <+> was realy bad corrosion, i discover that after i took off the red sleve<jacket> for <+> terminal,,
i cleand it no problem since.

check the postive terminal by removing the red cover and clean inside the two copper terminals,

see what you been doing is testing the batt before terminals so it reads ok, and when you start the car the alt give out the correct reading , but when you on high waythe car need more power could not get it from bad terminal, beside loss connection because the terminal not having good connection due to corrosion

good luck
