Exclamation Need help with door handles

I'm about to take possesion of my dad's 1991 Toyota Corolla DX Station Wagon, and there's one thing that has been bugging me:

1. The Left-Rear door handle wont open from the outside. The inside door handle works, but for some reason it wont open from the outside. I was going to take the interior panel and see what's going on, but I dont know if I could do it right. So... could someone please help me out?

Thanks.

First, what you might find once you get the panel off, is the linkage to the handle, which is usually held on with a plastic clip has popped off, or the clip is broken.
As for the door panel, most Japanese imports are fairly easy.
First look for the obvious screws. Some might be under plastic covers that need to pried off. Remove door pull, armrest, handles, etc. Look under ash try if it has one my Maxima has one there. There might be one behind the inside handle also.
Once you think all the screws are out, start at the bottom of the door with something thin like a putty knife, and gently pry towards you. It might have about 6 clips that hold it to the door frame. If it has power windows or door locks disconnect plugs. After everythings disconnected and all scews removed, lift the panel towards you about 2" and push it up toward the top of the door. It is held on the window area pretty tight, but should pop off. I hope this helps, good luck with your repair.
