How to make a Junkyard Turbo for a 3.8L?

I'm thinking about putting about 500$ into making my own junkyard turbo with a small <10 psi boost. Probably looking at runnign 3-5psi at most so I can keep thesame stock engine and not have to worry about putting strain on it. Could you please help me out?

Re: How to make a Junkyard Turbo for a 3.8L?

Are you sure you're going to be able to find a turbo in a junkyard that hasn't been worn to death? It seems like the turbos would be the first thing to go once a car is put in the junkyard.

Well I'm saying, hypothetically I found a nice little turbo that is fine. What is the next few steps? etc.

Go to my site for a list of junkyard turbos that will match your 3.8. There are good turbos to be had at the junkyard and ebay.

For a daily driver would 5PSI be too much on the stock 3.8?

Very cool site man with lots of good info. I have a couple q's for you though. How fast is the spool up on the remote mount compaired to a turbo mounted just off the exhaust mani? Do you have to run a turbo timer on it or does the turbo stay pretty cool with that setup?

Keep us updated with times please
