oh oh cracked head or not?

After inspecting the heads i noticed between #1 and #3 a very fine line
that can be just felt with your fingernail doesn't go all the way into the combustion chamber but stops just where it starts to dip doesn't show up in the chamber but shows up on other side in same line.I put a straight edge on it and it is as straight as an arrow.
The strange thing is on the other head is the exact same line between #4 and #6????.
Since i live in nowhere land i would have to ship it 400 miles to have it checked lol.
I poled the 4 local mechanic here 2 said they thought it was some kind of scratch or milling mark they would put it back on.2 said they wern't sure.I sure wish there were 5 mechanics here lol.
Any thoughts??

jgillis,

To determine if it is a tooling mark or a cracK: clean the area as good as you can and then pour rubbing alcohol on the area. If it's a crack it will be the last area to evaporate, and show up very well. (Poor man's NDT)

Re: oh oh cracked head or not?

You can buy crack finder. It usually comes in 3 cans. A cleaner, A penetrant and a magnifier. A local shop may sell these. A company by the name of CROWN is the one I have used!!!. It works!
