Reset Check Engine Light
I just replaced the two Oxygen sensors on my Contour after getting codes that they both needed to be replaced. Is there a way for me to reset my check engine light? It is still on.

The easiest way if you dont have an OBD-II scanner, is just to disconnect the battery. Kinda sucks that you reinput all your radio stations since the whole power supply is wiped, but it does the job.

fuse solution
Check your manual - there's two fuses in the power distribution box (I think they're #4 and #11- but double check), and pulling them for 10 mins should clear your codes without any radio reprogramming req'd.

Re: Reset Check Engine Light

Was changing the O2 sensors difficult. I am getting the same service engine light issue on bank2 sensor. Acording to code reader. Where did you buy the parts? How expensive? And disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes does reset the check engine light, though you will have to reprogram your radio stations as others have stated. Thanks for the feedback |
