PLEASE PLEASE HELP me start my B18C1

ok, just installed a JDM B18C in my firneds 93 civic EX couple(pulled a B16)

since they installed the knock sensor wires previously I didnt need to od that and the IAB wasnt there because its a skunk2 manifold. the computer is a PR3, and the harness is a JDM one I modified to work. ran wire colors from old harness, shanged any necesary pin location in plugs, read wiring diagrams of all 3 cars (sol VTEC, civic EX and GSR) and when I run codes only thing that pops up[ is vtec pressure switch, but its not part of my problem,(cant hit vtec when its not running right anyways).

problem is it starts but only rund on 3 and 4. got spark all the way to the electrode at all cylinders. tried other set of injectors in 1 and 2, tried reversing the wires for 1st and 2nd injectors incase I crossed them, didnt work so I switched bakc cuz Im sure I idnt cross em, just had to try) I know the injectors are putting in fuel because both cylinders the plugs come out smelling of gas. they are brand new platinum +2's, new wires, I checked to see if the cam timing was tright and its perfect, valve lash a little loose but nothing major. ran a compression test in 1 and 2 and both are around 175, didnt check 3 and 4 since I got no problems. I checked firing order a million times,1-3-4-2 and took the cap off at #1 TDC and made sure of #1 by checking rotor.

while running I would putt one by one wires off of cap and if it drops its revsb then that ones firing if not it isnt 1 and 2 are dead. and somehoe #1 fills with alot of gas. how could I check if the injectors are firing at the right order? and is 175 crappy for a GSR? this was an pretty old guage though thats throw around in a drawer so not sure on accuracy. but seems to me 175 would at lest run. every time I start it the CEL goes off for a few seconds and then comes back, and when id turn off the key and run cods only 22 again, vtec pressure switch.

so I started it, choked the TB off to kill it so I didnt yhave to turn off the ignition and ran codes and stil only 22, I had 9 at first but I replaced the dist with the B16's and that code dissapeared. I tried the MAP, IAT form the B16 as well and none of that made a difference. harness had no plug for the evap purge so I left it out, but I even taped into theharness in the correct pins and installed it and it didnt help out the situation. Im thinking it has to be either injectors at 1 and 2 opening atr wrong times, some how air cant get to 1 and 2 but how would that happn, I know the valves are opening. and those are times right guaranteed.

also I assume that my CEL code is an open circut is all. but I was wondering if I had the wires backwards for anything like a sensor, wouldnt the ECU throw that code because it isnt even connected as far as it knows?

and is there any kind of TPS woire reversal that needs to take place like when installing a ZC into a civic?

any other ideas? I really wanna get this thing running, ive been on it 5 days straight thorugh the night sometimes.

and I dont really know how it could not be sparking at the correct time because 3 and 4 are fine and theres no independant cylinder adjustment or anything so how do 2 not and 2 do? unles it isnt the ignition system.

Re: PLEASE PLEASE HELP me start my B18C1

ok, I knew I forgot to say some things I tried. I switched all 4 GSR injectors out for the B16's in case that was the problem, and I know they are working because the cylinders are getting fuel and the plugs come out smelling like gas, also #1 gets fuel washed. I take the plug out and its real wet and the cylinders got alot of fuel just laying on top of the piston. I soaked it up before I quit working on it wo it wouldnt get down past the rings into the oil overnight, but cant figure what the problem would be, because even if the plug ignited at the wrong time or late there would still be some fumes to burn and just not make power but it isnt even clearing the cylinder of gas. its kinda like the cylinder isnt getting air, but the IM is brand new, and I looked down the TB and see nothing blopcking 1 and 2 and dont remmeber anything being stuffed up inside 1 or 2. Im gonna take my ECU over there, plug it in and se what happens, I got a 92 though so its the wrong OBD I think, but I had my friends P61(same as I got) un my 94 civics engine for a while so it should work, just in case the fuel injection part of the ECU got fried inside the case. I will probably also try my plugs/wires/distributor as well since I KNOW they all work perfect.

pull off the spark plugs for 1 and 2 put 1 in the spark plug wire and then ground the spark plug on the threads and see if it sparks, then do the same with the other one. see if it is sparking at all

Re: PLEASE PLEASE HELP me start my B18C1

I did, I got spark all the way to the end of the plug, so only thing I could think of about spark is the wires dont reach far enough but I can feel them click, and when I pull em while its running I hear the spar jumping to the plug while Im dropping the wire back in so I know it gets to the plug. Im just gonna switch injectors/ECU/dist/plugs/wires/basically the whole computer/ignition system because I know that all mine are working fine and then if that doesnt work it will narrow it down to not being fuel delivery or spark. but it will also drive me craxy because air-fuel-spark-compression are the only 4 things it needs and it will hjave them all, so the timing would have to be the culprit but how are 2 cylinders timed fine and 2 not???

Re: Re: PLEASE PLEASE HELP me start my B18C1

just because you are getting spark at your plugs doesnt mean its going to fire, check if you had installed the distributor correctly, set your number one piston at tdc, take off the dist. cap and check if the rotor is facing the number one plug according to your cap, another thing i would try is to make a reff. mark on you distributor, from there advance or retard slightly and see if it will fire, if it fires adjust your timing to spec, if it doesnt fire also check your internal coil, and crank sensor.

Re: PLEASE PLEASE HELP me start my B18C1

you must not have read my ORIGINAL post that I first posted and only my replies to others.

I CHECKED the firing order and took off the cap and lined up the timing marks on the crank pulley, put #1 plug on the cap where the rotor was positioned. from there on out, they are all right, also how can you install a distributor wrong, rotor only sits into camshaft one way, cant be reversed, and theres only 3 bolts and its obvious how it goes.

plus I had 2 cylinders runnign so it couldnt be my dist was in wrong. ended up[ being his FPR somehow was making 1 and 2 get fuel just DUMPED in and 3 and 4 were lean enough to fire. troubleshot it by moving part by part from his engine to my ungine until the problem arose, and when the rail/regulator adn injectorrs came over it did it so I put my regulator on his rail and bam it was fine. then the vtec and speedo sensor was just a bad ground which I solved easily and quyickly and its been out ruinnign for a few days now.

Re: PLEASE PLEASE HELP me start my B18C1

u probably messed up in wiring the harness, and if u think u didn't, do a cylinder leakage test, cause just because u have good compression, doesn't mean u dont have sticky valves
