Question 02 Explorer cold seats?

I recently purchased an 02 Explorer Limited sans working heated seats. The stealership says both heating elements are bad and are asking $750 each to replace the front seats. The light does not come on when the button is pressed which makes me hopeful it is just a fuse however, visually they look fine although I cannot locate which fuse to pull from the owner's manual. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: 02 Explorer cold seats?

Im sure a haynes or a chiltons repair manuel would have the fuse location and order.

I hope it is a fuse.....$750 ouch , at that price I can live w/o heated seats.

also If you really want to check the fuse for power,
get a test light , attach the clip to ground and place the tip on each metal side of the fuse. if the light lights up you got power, if not its a bad fuse.

Re: 02 Explorer cold seats?

Haynes, AutoZone. I keep mine in the truck, and won;t own any vehicle without one.

For one thing, from reading sticker prices the heated seat Option is $750 for BOTH seats as it is. They are trying to do something very, very bad to you rectally.

Your owner manual will have fuse block locations, and from your description you are very likely correct.

Best of luck, my cold-bummed compatriot.

...Oh, and my fellow above is correct: If you pay $1,500 dollars to have 'heated seats', I'd be forced to recommend you better spend the money on a backwards-shooting gun. (Joke)

Just diagnose it like you would anyother electrical. Start with the wiring harness from the fuse box to the switch and work your way to the heating element under the seats. I think it is really weird that both elements would go out at once. If it turns out to be the seats check ebay and the junkyard they might have them for cheaper. But I am like everyone else I would rather have a cold a*s with $1500.00 in my pocket than heated seats.
