Replacing the Audio System in a 93 g20

My friend has a 93 g20 i am helping him replace the system in, were currentally looking at the flollowing:

- Clarion Pro Audio DXZ615 (HU and Amp, maybe add a real amp later)
- Infinity Kappa 462.1CF (4x6 for front)
- Infinity Kappa 62.1I (6-1/2 for the back)

or can anyone recommend some good price for preformance 6-3/4" speakers? I cant seem to find any, and kappas are popular and can be found cheap, i figure it cant be that hard to make some 6.5's fit in a hole for 6.75's.

Also, when replacing the headunit, do i have to completally rewire the car because of the amp in the back, or is it speakerwire caring the signal to the rear amp (like can i just disconnect it to have the system bypass it, or do i have to run new speakerwire)?

when u put the headunit in jus get the wire harness and u should have no problem. for the speakers try www.thezeb.com they have great prices on everything. and when u put the 6.5s in u jus gotta drill holes in the metal to make them fit. thats what i did in mine

Red face Head unit

:o When buying a new Head unit!

You have the option of going Hi or low meaning.

Low is with you RCA wich your unit comes with these is the best way to go.

High is with speaker wire wich is good but RCA is better. I could go one & on its a lot of explaning.

well in the back of your deck you will see three RCA outs in some deck 4 but I will stick to basics. 3 rca's Front Rear & sub.

There are difrent options at this piont I will list the cheapest.

When u install the head you can use speaker wire for the fronts wich are already in the car wiring & using the rca sub conect it (15' rca wich u put in under carpet) to the rear amp for the sub wich is the easiest & cheapest. (Turn the bass down a couple of notches like -2 then turn up the amp, the punch series has a gain switch wich you can install in the dash & control the amp from the drivers seat this is the setup I use.)

all u need to buy a wiring harness for the wires wich plugs into the stock wires, remember the best way is to soder it, take your time read twice.

Thumbs up

I recently did a system upgrade on my 91 G20. I have the Clarion DXZ615 head unit and it sounds great. I have two 6.5 sony mobile explode es series speakers in the front doors and two in the back. I have a 300 watt pioner amp hooked to the sony's. I also have two mtx thunder 6000 and a mtx thunder series amp. Its VERY LOUD and clean too
