1995 Lincoln Continental interior lights

My husband just purchased this Lincoln and it didn't come with a manual.
The problem is the interior lights will not go off. Now we have set the autolamp to off but the lights still do not go off. Can anyone help???

Does anyone know where I can get the car manual - the one that comes with the car when purchased new.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

Welcome to AF, Lincolns.

The handbook you're looking for is seen on eBay from time to time.

The Courtesy Light control is built into the Headlamp Switch on my 1996 Town Car. Push inward to toggle Interior Lamps on/off on my TC.

I can't say for sure on your 95 Conti. but find it and make sure it's off.

There's some other things to consider as well:
- Door switch not functioning. System may think the doors always open.
- Handle switch stuck. System thinks the door handle is up, interior lights come on with handle up.

There's some complex tests that can isolate either of the above two conditions.

15 seconds after closing the last door, the interior lighting should go into "theater dimming" mode, and slowly dim to off.

The Door Ajar switches in my 96 Town Car are inside the doors, close to the door latch mechanisms. Can't say for your 95 Conti.

I'd mess with the Door ajar switches first, if you can see them on the door frames hurray, if not you might try shutting the doors repetedly a few times each, then stand back 15/30 seconds to see if that works.

Sounds like the switch is defective or disconnected.
Have you looked at the wires to the switch?

Re: 1995 Lincoln Continental interior lights

Just an FYI on the manual. My 98 Conti didn't have a manual either (so I thought, I later found it) and my Lincoln dealer put me on to Helm publications. The manual was $20 (without leather cover) and shipping and handling was $7. The cover is an additional $20. I don't have their phone number handy, but the website is helminc.com. Good Luck!

I found the manual on e-bay. Got it for 14.95 plus shipping. Thank you for your response.
