Taurus dome light fix READ THIS ONE!
Dome goes off when it wants to, you un clipped the light bulb and are getting tired of the dark. Ok this is the fix, I'll go slow and explain it well. All you need is a good sized can of WD-40 (and if you have an air hose to blow it out, the better) You have to open your doors to spray in the right spot. The door closed sensor is in the door where the latch closes the door. (not the outer handle!) (do not spray where the door handle is outside or inside OK!) Like I said the doors need to be open. Look at the outside end while the door is open all the way, (make sure you are not out in the road to get ran over) you will see the metal latch on the door end, when the door closes the latch mechnizim will click over and latch the door securely, this is also the switch on the inside that tells the computer your door is closed. I think this latch gets dry and wont move all the way into place causing it to make proper contact. It just needs lubing. So spray away! Soak that baby down. Do all the doors in the same spot. Open and close the door several times like your mad at your spouce. If you have an air hose, then blow it out real good and spray a little more just to lube it. Also it could be the contacts are dirty, but I don't think so, I took mine out and it is a sealed unit, I've got a 1999 Taurus.
Good luck guys, I know this will fix it for you. If it doesn't then I'll tell what it is. In the fuse box there is a dome light relay, pull it and take it to your local parts dealer, they can't look it up on their books but they can match it if they can see it. Oriely's was $5.25
