fluctuating idle

what effect does weather have on a 1990 gxl(IDLE)? the idle fluctuates back and forthj between 1500 and 2000 when cold. i would like to know what may be the cause of this odd idle? what things to look into and if it could only b a few things a guess at what fixing this would cost?

Re: why is no1 answering me

they all do that when they are cold, usually around 1600-1700 for me

as long as it doesn't idle that high when the engnie warms up then you are ok

Re: why is no1 answering me

the ECU makes the engine run richer so the cats get heated faster, it was for the emission tests

now stop complaining.

Pineapple racing is the only place I know of that has a warranty on their rebuilds, but if you think you could pull one apart and rebuild it then that would be your cheapest route.
You might also look into buying a good used engine of the same series as yours, they run much cheaper then a rebuild and if it is N/A you can get well over 200k miles before another build if taken care of.
