I think that many parts on the Grand Cherokee are also on the Cherokee, as are many parts found on Dodge's trucks and SUVs (ie: doorhandles) and Im sure you find parts on Chrysler's too, since Jeep and Dodge are owned by Chrysler. But this is not what you need to know.

Regarding the suspension, are you planning to put a lift kit on your GC? Or do you mean like the springs for a more comfortable ride? But I'm sure you would be able to use most underpinnings from the Cherokee on your Grand Cherokee. I have a 95 GC Laredo, and anything that works on mine would work on yours. IM me if you want specifics.

the cherokee (XJ) is very different from the original generation grand cherokee (ZJ) there are some parts used on both vehicles, but the suspension is very different. It is closer to the newest wrangler (TJ) just go to website like www.rubiconexpress.com and find a lift kit for a ZJ. I assume you are looking to lift it? www.jeepinjoe.com offers the same rubicon parts at pretty good discounts, i also recommend him. www.rocky-road.com is another site for armor, lifts, bumpers, etc. and www.kevinsoffroad.com as well. If you want recommendations about lift sizes, shocks, tires, etc. just ask me. or email me [email protected] talking to someone might save you some money in the long run

Re: cherokee and grand cherokee the same?

dude, there are almost as many lifts for the Grand as there are for the TJ Wrangler. at least 10 come to mind right now. do a little research before you dive into this and can't get out. unless you are actually going to be doing some serious trails, don't embarrass those of us who do with some lifted pavement princess.

I am running the Rubicon Express control arms with Teraflex coils and love it. If I were you, I would only consider the Rubicon or Skyjacker lifts, unless you really want to go big with a Clayton's 7in long arm steup.

ok, not to sound rude, but just start with a 3-3 1/2in lift and become comfortable with that before going higher. all we need is another newbie rolling his ride because he went from zero to wannabe hero on a trail he had no clue how to crawl up. so, unless you have 6-7 grand to put into the lift, tires, gears, custom driveshafts, upgraded complete rearend, lockers, and many other little things, start small and go from there. I have seen in person what can happen when someone does this, luckily we were able to winch him up before he rolled down the side of a 300ft cliff.

ya granted i have no experience off road but im waiting till im out of collage and i have hit the trails. and your right i should do a 3 inch lift and i am going to start small but not right now i have to do other things befgore i do trails all the time (collage). so its ok if your being rude its cool a little criticizem didnt hurt anyone. thanks for the advice. i just want to take percautions with the jeep before i do so i will be safe. i dont plan to rock crawl i just want to you know get muddy and hit the trails and hang out. i am not interested in hardcore rock crawling.

Re: cherokee and grand cherokee the same?

you would be very surprised where you can go with just a 3in lift, rear locker/lsd, and a good set of tires. I have surprised many guys with bigger tires in some tight places.
