2003 stereo question

hey im new to this forum and i recently baught a 2003 malibu, i was wondering if anything would happen besides no door chimes if i hooked a radio in by just splicing wires without a kit, i have no keyless entry on mine and my stereo is broken, it wont play cds anymore it just says err on the screen. thanks

In my 02 Mali, only the door chimes were lost.

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure the splice method won't work - because of the new tech in the deck, you'll need a data cable.
