91 olds bravada torsion bar removel, I need help!!
Can't figure out how to remove the torsion bar off my 91 oldsmobile bravada
, so I can replace the lower control arm, DRIVING ME NUTS. does the torsion bar slide out? I loosened the adjuster bolt all the way, but didn't use anytype of vise to release the pressure off the nut. as specified in the haynes manual, before i took out the adjuster bolt. Is that a problem? can someone help? thanks Amacy |

Re: 91 olds bravada torsion bar removel, I need help!!
Safely support your Bravada because the work is quite involved..use jackstands on a concrete floor...plenty of light, take your time..you can't tells us how the job went if you get the squish, be safe.
The book says there's a tool that holds the adjuster arm up so you can remove the adjuster bolt & nut...J 36202 Torsion Bar Unloader. "Remove the adjusting bolt using the j 36202 tool, after removing the adjusting bolt and nut the tool is loosened then taken off the assembly and torsion bar moved forward and left in place. Remove the adjustment arm, loosen and remove the nut and square washer from the rear torsion bar support, raise support up and out of the way, remove the bolts from the support insulator(rubber frame mount), muffler flange at the converter & loosen the rear exhaust hanger and lower the rear exhaust then you'll be able to remove the support from the frame and free the rear end of the torsion bar and pull it out of the lower control arm."
