Question 1991 VR4 vs. Audi A6 2.7T (weird comparison)

This is a weird comparison, but this guy at my work is giving me a hard time about this subject. He claims that his 2000 Audi A6 2.7T can beat my car in 0-60 and in the Quarter mile. My car is bone stock except for a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system, and his as far as I know is all stock and is a manual transmission. I need some opinions

Don't know much about his car, but I've never met an audi that I had a problem beating.

My advice, read the FAQ, there is something called the Free Boost mod. Do it. It takes 15 seconds, costs nothing and gives you another 20hp. It is perfectly safe, and will bring you up to the stock boost levels of 94-99 vr4s...if he's stock, I'd say you'll kill him.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

If you do the free boost mod you'll have 70 horses on him and the cars weigh about the same ammount, you should smoke him, go for it. A strange thing is that they have 5 valves/cylinder but they don't make much power for the displacement even being TT.

Based soley on stock to stock magazine numbers, they are both in the same neighborhood Numbers for that Audi are 0-60 in 6.0 seconds area and 14.7 seconds for the quarter mile. That means you're VR4 is a bit more car then his, but there close enough the driver is going to take this one.

Re: 1991 VR4 vs. Audi A6 2.7T (weird comparison)

I know one thing that the Audi (S)6 biturbo can pack a good punch i raced one on the hight way we both started at about 60mph - he was right on my ass - i have a feeling though that he had some minor work or bolt ons an i a was bone stock not even an aft.mkt. exh. he was either on my tail or had his pass. front wheel by my driver side rear.... an he was sticken good - at about 155-160mph i persumed he was an had reach top end in 6th gear... cause he had none left when i was only mid rpm in 5th about 3k rpm or so an i was pullin on him....the other thing that made me to beleive that he was maxed out was because i heard this vnnnnsii vnnnnsii vnnnnsii- which i think was his rev limiter an the blow off function at the same time . lol it was a fun race i just wish it was done legal an it would of been even more fun....
As for the 2k Audi A6 2.7 i dont see why u shouldnt beat u - he will most likely jump u on the first 2 gears... then once u get into third u should be ok.

Good Luck!
When i raced that Audi S6 BiT
We both were basically racing our cars as hard an as perfectly as u could - that is why i think we had such a good race....
nothing harder to beat than a guy with a pretty equal car an him knowing how to drive it properly - unless u are to cheat or be cheated by nitrous or something of that sort. Co2/propane w/e

I don't see why the Audi would jump in the first couple of gears. Use the AWD advantage and wipe the floor with him! If your car is running good, you should be able to turn his smile upside down. Oh, for the post above, sounds like a wicked race with the S6...wish I could have seen (or been in) that one. Nice kill.

Re: 1991 VR4 vs. Audi A6 2.7T (weird comparison)

Thanks ~ya it was a blast-
Audi has awd as well - the quattro awd system...
i dont know if it is full time like our cars tho - i think its like 60-40 when driving on clean highway conditions... not to sure - i know they got the quattro though....
i wish i had that race video taped but it woulda been kinda hard unless one of the 2 friends in my car did it while i was racing...

Re: 1991 VR4 vs. Audi A6 2.7T (weird comparison)

awd=full time 4wd, meaning that as long as it's an awd all 4 tires have some sort of traction all the time.(that's y the gtr is considered 4wd by some)
like someone else said, it's gonna b the driver that wins the race, not entirly the car
