brake lights

hey i got a question...in my gauge cluster, theres a red light coming on that says "brake light" and my drivers side brake light doesn't work, but all the other lights do. Maybe im just being stupid, but i checked he fuses that it could be....does that mean the bulb is bad?....the light still comes on, but does not get brighter when brake is applied.

could be a bad bulb then... if your brake light is only one bulb, then that bulb should have two filaments in it, one thats lit whenever your lights are on and one that only lights up when you hit your brakes (making the light brighter for differentiation). So, if the second filament goes bad, you won't get brighter lights.

I'd say check the bulb and change it if its bad.

Most likely the high intensity element is gone, like she said. If a bulb doesn't cure it for some reason, that socket may have a poor ground to the body. (common prob on some asian cars)

Re: brake lights

Easy to check. Since the bulbs are relatively easy to get to, just switch the bulb from the two sides and see if the same problem occurs on the good side. If so, then it's the high intensity element in the bulb. If not, you have other problems.
