Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Ok i just got done installing the S pipe and i accidently droped that long screw somewhere. i think the screw is on top of the transmission but its too small to see. i noticed a big diff in sound after the installation and decided to have some fun in the rain. =] i did some burnouts and peel outs BUT suddenly i couldnt shift into 2nd anymore. I then check to see if i can ride the clutch (driving the car without adding gas) and it works both forward and backward. My friend told me if i do this than my clutch is still good. The problem is, i hear thumping sounds for 1-2 secs then it goes away. It came from somewhere near the throttle body and transmission area.

Another problem is that when i drive regularly from a stop i hear thumping sounds and the car rattles WAY too much. I dont get whats going on with my car. My car has been smooth since the day i bought it but not today.

Is the lost screw fucking up the car? lol Please dont tell me this is crankwalk... i know most of u are gonna yell at me for thinking its crankwalk but im reallllly worried. I hope its just the clutch wearing out or the transmission going out cause im gonna get everything rebuilt by june or so... =[ can any1 explain to me whats going on with my car?

EDIT: also, my temp doesnt show anymore. Its the coolant temperature gauge that doesnt move. Dont know why.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

It seems like whatever the problem is, it wasn't caused by a lost screw. You can use a magnetic wand to retrieve that thing, by the way.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Is it ok to have that 1 gauge not work? its the gauge to the far right .. i think its the coolant/temp gauge. The coolant is still running threw my engine/turbo etc.. right? or do i have to get the gauge to work?

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Is there a fuse for the coolant/temp gauge? i think my dad fried a fuse when he was testing out the fusebox.
Im not really too worried about the coolant/temp gauge but i do want it to actually work.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Alright poeple, quick tip. If the car performs great up until to do some mod, that mod is most likely what caused the problem. Or something you did in the process of isntalling it.

I have no idea what screw you are talking, probably because you didn't tell us. Please elaborate.

Not being able to get into certain gears after doing work in the tranny area is commonly caused by something blocking the shifter lickages on the top front of the tranny. UICPs and intake pipes have been known to keep me out of 1st, 3rd, and 5th. Check it out, maybe that screw is in the way, but again I dont know if its beig enough to do this because I dont know what screw it is.

For the temp guage, the sender is right near the radiator cap (on the head, not radiator ). Check that you didn't knock the connector off or pull the wire out.

For any thumping or rattling noises look all around the area you worked in, anything you removed or installed, etc. You may get lucky. OR you may not, doing burnouts and other useless stunts can break drivetrain parts. Check your CV joints and other related parts, and hope that its not the diff or anything similar.

Retrace your steps, and solve one problem at a time Start with the easiest first. In this case, the temp guage. Then perhaps the shifting, and last, the thumping.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Ok i found the screw, it droped out after i moved the car. The screw im talking about came from the throttle body (there are 4 of them).

I talked to some people in autozone/kragen/my dad (lol) and they said it could be my transmission fluid. Bad thing is, i cannt find the transmission fluid bar/stick to check on the fluid (found out manuals dont have that bar). How much do u guys think autoshops would charge me to get my fluid changed?

Im not too worried about the temp gauge.

Another thing, how come i hear hissing sounds going threw the hard pipes i installed? Is this normal? First there was a BIG boost leak that i found, the car ran at full boost but was barley going into 2-3k rpm. I fixed that leak with a hose instead of duct tape i had on b4. Now i can still hear the hissing sound but i have no boost leak. I tried my own boost leak test which is going 10-20 mph on 5th gear and step all the way on the gas to see if boost creep up fast or slow. Out come of the test is that im running normal but reallllllly worried about that hissing sound.

EDIT: I think i have to replace my trans and clutch =[ It grinds when i shift into reverse even with my foot on brake.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Make a boost leak tester per the vfaq. the hissing sound is most likely a leak.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

hard pipes are just a tad noisier than plastic...

and a 5th gear leakdown will do you no good. make a real one or get one from machV if you are lazy.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Hey i just got the knocking sound fixed. it was the clutch, i had to pay 500$ to get it replaced at a local shop. After that was done something odd happened. Well i kinda noticed it today when i was driving to school. My turbo spools loud. I dont know what they done to the motor but i specificly asked them to not do anything to the motor, just the tranny and clutch. Although i like the sound its just wierd. At first i thought they lowerd my psi but i have no idea on what boost i am running on the manual boost controller. Can changing the psi make your turbo sound (spool) louder? Or is this the effect of installing an S pipe? i didnt hear this sound at first when i finished installing the S pipe. It started after i got the clutch replaced. Any help is appreciated!

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

Yes i have a boost gauge. when i put it all full boost it goes from 20 then slides back down to 14-15. Does that mean that the psi is set at 14-15 psi? How do i adjust it so that its back to stock mode? do i just twist that 1 nob til its loose? right now its really tight and i cannot turn it the other way anymore but i can twist it loose the other way.

Re: Just installed S pipe. Now a problem occurs.

You just need to back the screw on the MBC back out. I do see that you have a 1g BOV so you aren't leaking there. I was able to get my T25 to hold steady at 19 psi (at least till about 5000 rpm) after I got my MBC. Then I learned that was a waste of energy.

Anyway, to set the MBC correctly you should back out the screw a good bit, make a pull....tighten screw, make a pull, tighten screw....repeat until you get the boost where you want.
