Problem with my gas mileage

couple weeks ago i drove up to school in my chevy blazer. a 600 mile trip, i got 315 miles before i decided to fill up. well i get up there, spend a night, then the next day my fuel pumps goes out

so i take it to a shop and they replace the fuel pump, and the put in a new pulsator and what not, well now i am getting about 200 miles per tank

my last tank i went 203 miles and put 15 gallons of gas in, meaning i was getting 13.5 miles per gallon.

any idea on what is causing this? i need to get this fixed, but i dont know what to tell them to fix, when i went back to them they just said, "all we did was put a fuel pump in, nothin we did should affect your mileage"

but it was fine the day before i took it there

Re: Problem with my gas mileage

You are talking about a 95...right?

Is it running bad? Check engine light? When was the last time it had a tune up? When it is warmed up, what does the temp gauge show? be specific.

If you ran the tank low enough to suck up trash and burn up the pump, you could have clogged the fuel filter or injectors.

i mean im not talkin like a week after, or a week before

its a difference of the exact moment i gave it to them, and the exact moment i got it back from the change in mileage

and ill start checkin the temp gauge and no the check engine light is not on

Re: Problem with my gas mileage

You don't "believe" it has been that long? Don't assume anything about your truck until you are sure of it.

Could be with the added pressure and proper fuel flow you spark plugs can't handle the proper combustion.

Also, did the guy replace the fuel filter?

I would reset the computer by pulling the negative battery cable and removing the two ecm fuses to reset the computer so the computer can relearn the fuel curve again faster.

The computer could have been retarding the timing because of the lack of fuel flow and now that the fuel flow is 100%, the timing could be a little retarded and rich. Resetting the computer should fix that quick.

Re: Problem with my gas mileage

it is in the fuse panel on the driver's end of the dash.

Open the door and you will see it on the side.

The pickup is in the bottom of the tank where any trash would be no matter what the fuel level.

Thank you for clearing that up. I always thought the pick up was at the top of the tank. Does this mean I can stop filling up every 4 miles?
