Is it really as easy as they say it is to do the flip flop trunk , has an1 done it ? also what exact kind of hinges are necassary.
When you buy a pair of racing seats you need seperate brackets right? if so how much do they run for a 98 cavyz24. Right now i have a red 98 cavy Z24.Automatic It has white vents and a red console i've done myself I also painted the window buttons white and i love how it looks I also have two six inch red neons - 1 in top vent, 1 in coin catcher on the console. One 10 inch red neon under dash on passenger side Racing pedals with red neon built in. 2 Rockford Punch Stage 2 12" subs 1 P3001 Rockford amp 1 Rockford 1 fahrad capacitor wiring kits sony X-Plod faceplate red dome lights clear a/c knobs 2 strobe red bulbs above each corner pillar That's all i have done right now and i was thinking i wanted to do the flip flop trunk next and the door panels red and white. I was just needing some ideas on how it would look and how difficult it would be. |

You do need brakets for racing seats they are different depending on the make of the seat. www.nopionline.com sell some that'll run you $80 each side. But if you're not bothered about the stock seats get someone to weld the mounting plates from the stock seats onto the aftermarket one. You can also get them to mount them lower. This will be cheaper but make sure the person knows what they are doing as you want it to be as strong as possible!

Noshun - Back to the flip flop trunk -
I was watching tricked out on DIY and they showed where you can just mount the hinges to the 2 curved arms and secure it with slider locks, it was on a civic but it looked like a similar set up to my cavy 98 z24 on the inside of the trunk . Know anything about this? |

I don't know about slider locks but all you need really is a couple of brakets that hingne between the arms and the trunk lid that have a crude catch (bent piece of metal sticking up!) You could make them yourself with a blow torch, a vice and some vice grips!

Re: flip flop trunk and other mods
ok it officially is a sucky mod. I worked for an hour get everything on piece by piece step by step as in the link provided above and when i shut it it wont seal! I looked and its because you have to move the brackets to the outside and if you dont have a bar welded or held between the two brackets the upper corners won't seal and water gets in! so moral of the story include that you need to weld cross bars or make some support from the inside instead of just saying you bolt some hinges here and some latches there! thanx!
