OK the heads are out!
I didn't have to tack the sprockets off but with the back i took the alt mount, head, and manifold all in one piece lol.
The first thing that caught my eye is that #1 piston and combustion chamber are very clean!!!The rest are carboned some which i would think normal.I'v never been this deep before lol. The #1 has no carbon to speak of and has a tan color to it is this normal! |

Good job getting the heads out! Having the #1 cylinder so clean leads me to think that you have either a bad head gasket or a cracked head that leaked anti-freeze into that cylinder. Check the head carefully for a hairline crack along the #1 combustion chamber. Before you put everything back together I'd dip a rag in clean engine oil and wipe around the cylinder wall with it. If anti-freeze got in there, it would have washed away any protective film on that cylinder leaving it vulnerable to excessive wear when you start it. Having a light film of oil may help protect it. Good luck! |

Re: cam sprockets
Best way I can tell you to take that sprockett off is to hit it w/ an impact gun. If you don't have one, get like a "C"-clamp to hold the sprocket than knock it loose w/ a 17mm socket.
