Error Code 741

The "check enguine soon" light on our '99 Aurora came on and an error code of 741 showed up. Torgue convertion connection etc. The car has 61,000 miles on it, shifts perfect, and has fairly new trans fluid. Any input before I take it in?
I had the light shut, than it came on again about 3 days later, had it shut again.

Was the tranny filter replaced? More specifically, DTC error code PX741 refers to "torque convertor CKT performance or stuck off" meaning that the the torque convertor is probably not locking up at all. It doesn't mean that the torque convertor has a problem but the component that controls torque convertor lockup such as the TCC solenoid is out of spec. I'd check all electrical connectors on the tranny to make sure they are clean, tight, etc.

You mentioned that it shifts OK but do you know if the torque convertor is locking/unlocking in overdrive. A simple test is to take it on a cruise going approximately 50-55 miles per hour in overdrive. Keeping the gas steady with right foot, use your left foot and tap the brake. The engine RPMs should show an uptick of approximately 300 rpm because the torque convertor should be unlocking. This will at least show that the
sensor used during braking and the speed control sensor are probably good narrowing the problem down to a defective TCC solenoid or associated wiring.
