NOOB with a quick question...

First of all, is a "Mitsubishi GTO 3.0L" the same thing as a 3000GT?

To me, they look the same, but I'm just a newbie. If they are the same, what are the specs of a "Mitsubishi GTO 3.0L" with a "6G72" engine? Horsepower? None of these are turbo that I am looking at...

Lastly, how would a
Mitsubishi GTO 3.0L or
Mitsubishi GTO 3.0L 4WD
do in a comparrison of a Skyline GTS or GTS25T (2.5L)

I was also looking at the Skylines they had... What do you guys truely think would be better (Which are faster, more reliable, cheaper to fix, etc..)

Thanks in advance for helping me learn.

-Andrew

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

a vr4 vs the 2 wheel drive turbo skyline the vr4 would defintley own. the gto vs the gtr would be a good match i'd be interested in seeing that.

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

OK, so let me get this straight...

3000GT VR4 > Skline Turbo
3000GT VR4 vs. 3000GT-R would be a good match?

What the difference between 3000GT VR4 (or GTO) and a 3000GT-R??? Can you paint me a picture? lol

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

there is no 3000gtr i was saying that the 3000gt VR4 is a Twin Turbo and the skyline GTR is a Twin Turbo also. that would be a good matchl The VR4 vs the the skyline single turbo the GTS the vr4 would when easily

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

OK--think i got it now... I feel really dumb now...sorry guys--- Like I said.. I'm ne wto these car and know nothing about them, and it's kinda hard to find info on them, since they arent really that popular in the US (at least the Skyline isnt)
So you were saying that:

The 3000GT VR4 (VS) the skyline single turbo (the GTS)
--- the 3000GT VR4 would win easily

the 3000gt VR4 (GTO) is a Twin Turbo and the skyline GTR is a Twin Turbo also... This would make for a good match...

--Thanks and sorry again...

ok, i'll chip in on this one

There are 3 models of the GTO
SR
TT
MR

the only differences between the GTO and the 3000GT is right hand drive, the amber colored tail lights, and the name. And

the SR is the non-turbo model, but it is equipped with AWD, all GTO's have AWD and non-turbo 3000GT's have FWD.

the TT is the exact equivalent as the VR-4.

the MR is the same thing as a VR-4 except it weighs a little less, and it comes out of the factory with 13g turbos vs. the stock 9b's in the VR-4, but at the same boost levels. The MR out of the factory runs mid 12's in the 1/4 mile, and is faster than the Supra and the Skyline out of the factory. In fact, i believe the TT (VR-4) is faster than both in the 1/4 out of the factory as well.

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

The skyline is hugly popular here in the us some are actual fans of the car the rest or mostly ppl that are like hey i saw that car on 2 fast 2 furious and it had like a 10000hp idiots. The problem is they are hard to get here in the us u can only get the R32,R33 here in the us and they outragously expensive 30k for r32 50k for R33 and the company that legalizes them is going out of buisness most likley. The VR4 is kinda popular i like the Stealth its dodge counterpart they are ALOT cheaper. If u want ne more info just say what u would like to know i know i more bout skylines then 3000gt/vr4 what idk yougs and other vr4 fantics

Kinda unfair to compare the MR to a normal skyline the MR is a race prepared vechicale. Better comparo would be MR vs Vspec II Nur or N1

AWW!!! I feel much smarter now!!!
Thanks for the help guys...

So what I am thinking now is that I'm probably not going to get a Skyline, since it cost so much to get it converted... I was seeing it listed for like $5000 from a Japanese Exporter plus $2000 for shipping, but then it gets way too expensive since you HAVE TO get it converted to US specs...

So now I'm leaning toward the 3000GT, GTO TT, or GTO MR...

But wait... I've seen a Stealth before on the road, but I've never really done research on the cost of those? What is a good used price for one and what's the HP on the Stealth?

Lastly, if I were to get a Mitsu. GTO from Japan or something, I would have to have it converted too? I believe this is a true statement... If so, I guess I'll just stick with buying one in the US, cause i dont have all that $ to dish out to get the emissions and other stuff converted (Bummer...I really did like that right-hand drive idea though..lol)

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

Yup ne car younger then 25years old has to be converted. A stealth is around 5-8k for a 93-94 the engine is the same as the VR4 *320HP Read faq on how to get it up for cheap* just make sure its a RT/TT stealth that is the AWD twin turbo model. BTW in 2014 the 1989 R32 becomes able to import with little to no conversion.

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

Nice... So which is better? A stealth with a VR4 engine or a VR4? Cheaper?

2014... maybe I'll wait till then to get my next car, but maybe not, because by then we'll all just be using transport systems to get from one place to another. ("Beam me up, Scotty!")

Re: NOOB with a quick question...

The stealth RT/TT and the 3000 VR4 are the same exact car just differnt body, And the stealth has no active aero and active muffler. You dont' need those things ne way they just add weight to your car and stealth/vr4 doesnt' need ne more.
