cavalier history

does anyone know where I can find the history of cavaliers. like models and the corresponding years. 1st gen, 2nd, 3rd gen...... what type of engine is in each. you know general info off all the cavalier models. I searched for it in this forum but couldn't find anything

Gen 1, 1982-1987
gen 2, 1988-1994 phase one 88-90 phase 2 91-94
gen 3, 95-2005, phase one 95-99, phase 2 00-02, phase 3 03-05

1982. 1.8l OHV

1983. 1.8l ohc & 2.0l OHV

1984-1986. 1.8 OHC Turbo, 1.8 OHC,2.0 OHC 2.8 V6

1987-1989. 2.0 OHC, 2.0 OHV turbo, 2.0 OHV, 2.8 V6

1990. 2.0 OHC, 2.0 OHC Turbo, 2.2 OHV, 2.2 OHV, 3.1 V6

1991. 2.0 ohc, 2.2 ohv, 3.1 v6

1992-1994 2.2 ohc, 3.1 v6 2.0 ohc

1995. 2.2 ohv & 2.3 ohc quad 4

1996-2002 2.2 ohv. 2.4 ohc ld9

2003-05 2.2 ohc ecotec

Good job with the info you posted. If I remember right the first year (1982) had the crappy GM computer controlled carburetor and the following year had the EFI throttle body injection. I had an '84 Skyhawk that was EFI.

just in addition that was J-bodies not just cavs. The turbos were sunbirds!

and there were, Chevrolet Cavaliers, Pontiac Sunbirds, Cadillac Cimmarons, Buik Skyhawks, Oldmobile Firenzas, Pontiac J2000s & Pontiac Sunfires.

The ecotech is the newest J-body engine. Available in 2002 and 2003 and up only engine available. The Cobale replacement will have the Eco in it also. 2.2 OHC.

EcoTec is Economical Technology but it's not really either compared to other maunfacturers! There is a 2.4 EcoTec coming out later this year in Saturs and Pontiac, This is also the Motor for the Cobalt SS not the Cobalt SS Supercharged- 2.0 (destroked 2.2 ecotec) the 2.4 will make 170hp n/a.

there were 2.2 eco in the 02's it was an option in the z24's/LS sport

also the 2.4 eco just got 5 more hp added to it so 175hp
