Loud CLunk Sound! 3rd Gen.

Okay I have a 3rd gen lude with about 170,000 miles. Its been making a loud clunk sound. Some one suggested that it mgith be motor mounts but they are all strong here are the symptoms

It only occurs when Braking of down shifting, or hard upshifting.

It seems to happen more freaquently during the rain but that doens't make any sense

I checked the motor mounts those chekc out okay

Reving the engine wihile in nuetral doesn't provide any clunk, even while the car is moving

braking will cause the clunk weather the car is in gear or not.

Shakes the floor board quite a bit.

any ideas would be much apreciated

Did you post at prelude Power. If not I would say control arm bushings. Better yet. Put the front of your car on jack stands and shake the front end suspension down. Something has to be loose.
