2 problems

Power window motor on 97 firebird passenger side:
I got the inner door frame off, now I see clear plastic covering another metal frame. Do I have to remove that to get to the power window motor?

Right side headlight makes noise when I turn lights off:
I know that means that headlight motor is going out, but I took it to a shop to get it repaired, and the guy said to not mess with it, because then if something goes wrong, then they might NEVER go down. But, I was reading everyone's forums saying how easy it is to fix. Can I fix it myself? And if so, how? and what parts to buy? Thanks a million.

If you are talking about the plastic that covers the entire door, then yes you would have to take it off, make sure to keep it and install it back on, this plastic is there to keep moisture away from the door panel. usually that attached with some adhesive.

They might never go down? I don't think so. I'm not familiar with those never birds, but my Porsche has the same type of headlight operation. Got a motor that actuates some rods, which in turn bting the headlights aup and down. Just find out how many motors (for the headlights) are there, one for both headligts or two, one on each side. Then If you are
sure that it is the motor, go get one, take the old one out and install the new one. On the Porsche I do it while the headlights are down. You might want to go see a Pontiac dealer/parts department, they can tell you exactly where those motors are ... and yes you can do it yourself. Whatever man put together man can repair (or woman).

Your headlight is making sound cause your gear inside is worn and grinding itself to pieces. Do yourself a favor and solve your problem for good, use a brass gear to replace http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW . This will make sure this problem doesn't just happen again shortly down the road and comes with step by step instructions. Good Luck

PS. I merged your other Power Window thread into your original thread for a reason do NOT start a new thread everytime you have something to add about the original problem. All the post you were making new threads about had to do with your window install. This thread is acceptable because it is related to your headlight motor but you could have asked the window question in the other thread you created. I hope you understand why I do things this way and also hope I didn't come off rude.

Listen!!! Before you spend a dime there is a FREE FIX for this!!!!!

Simply remove the cover of the motor. Inside you will notice that the large white gear inside is 360 degrees around. The motor only uses half of this gear. Simply disconnect the armature for the for the light assembly. Rotate the nub that the armature was connected to on t the motor 180 degrees and reassemble . No more grinding and it works flawlessly.

You can send me a check with all the money you just saved and Ill be able to replace my 96 Formula bumper cover.

i actually had one on my 96 that the housing cracked and was allowing the motor to flex the case and not stop spinning. a hose clamp and a little time fixed the problem. there is alot that can go wrong with these things (murphy's law strongly applies) just be sure to look them over to make sure you know what the problem is because it could be a free fix a 50 cent fix or on up to around 100 bucks. good luck
