OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics. It is basicaly the emissions control for your car. the higher the OBD number the more sifisticated the emisions control system. I dont have a real detailed knowledge on the subject but it you do a search you could fill in the blanks.

Re: Help with OBD0 OBD1, OBD2?

obd0 or pre obd is 91 and later, obd1 is 92-95, and obd2 is 96 and up

yes you can put a newer OBD in your car. You can't leagaly put an older OBD in your car but you are OBD 0 so its not something you need to worry about. I've never done a swap myself so im not sure how hard it is to wire it up but from what i have been told its not too bad.

Do they make OBD0 to 0BD2 Conversion harnesses? Im looking for one and i can't seem to find one. I'm planning on putting 98-01 LS engine in my 90 LS.

crvtec, im not 100% sure but i know thats accurate for civics and integras and preludes.

i dont think they do make obd0 to obd2 because nobody wants to go obd2. if i was you, i would get a 4 wire obd1 o2 sensor and just swap to obd1 with that newer ls motor

Re: Help with OBD0 OBD1, OBD2?

no but what you have to do is get a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness so now you have a obd1 ecu.

now just splice the obd2 plugs for the injectors and dist into you harness. because your obd1 ecu will run obd2 injectors and dist. the only thing you need is a 4 wire o2 sensor. also if you plan on using the obd2 injectors you need to rewire your car to run those high impedance injectors
