2003 Alero-paint loose/fade on radio buttons

Does anyone have an idea of how to solve this problem? Is this covered under warranty? Have the 4dr GL2. Tried to cover it up using black markers but this is temp. at best. Little details like this make me weary of buying GM again in the future as also own a 2001 WB Venture bought new that has had various minor problems since 2 years old and it's only driven on weekends.

Re: 2003 Alero-paint loose/fade on radio buttons

Yeah this happens on all of these radios. My car has 44K miles on it and my radio was replaced less than 10K miles ago due to another problem. Already, the paint on three of the buttons is comming off...I'm going to take it back because since the radio was replaced less than 12K ago, they will cover it. They should still cover yours as well.

Thumbs up Re: Re: 2003 Alero-paint loose/fade on radio buttons

Thanks for the info and suggestion Jeremy. Good Luck with your Alero. This problem should not even have existed. No wonder people who used to buy American like my older brothers now stick with Japanese vehicles and we're proud Americans of Asian descent. Other than the loose paint , I am OK with the radio/CD and its features.

Re: 2003 Alero-paint loose/fade on radio buttons

All of us have that problem and I agree that it should never have happened! I also have it on my window and door lock buttons! To make it worse my pontiac is also stating to do this! The cheap white paint stuff is a joke!

I bought my 2003 Alero last July, and had the radio replaced under the warranty because of something else, although the orig. radio the paint was rubbed off, and I have had the "New" radio for about 2 months now, and the warranty is now out for the car but I was wondering if the radio is still under warranty because it was replaced. If it is wether they will replace it because the paint came off???? Its such a JOKE. This radio is lesss than 3 months old and all of the paint has come off 2 of the knobs.... What was GM thinking!!!????!!!!

Should I be able to have GM replace it just because the paint came off the knobs even though that the bumper to bumper is now over.... Like I said the radio was replaced about 2 or three months ago becasue their was a problem with the CD player of the unit....

Thanks:
Wes
