Update on my 89 iroc
well its running, i had to take out the plugs and clean them, i replaced the inline fuel filter, drained the old gas from the tank, filled it up with 93 octane and some stp fuel system cleaner, all that and i removed the tbi unit and cleaned the crud out of it, also the iac valve was clogged, also i changed the coolant and thermostat. she started, and smoked for 15 minutes must need new valve seals. still got a miss in it and it ran kinda rough but smoothened out the longer it ran. i pulled the stick on the tranny, and the fluid was goldin brown. so i drove it up and down the road a few times just to see what it would do. it slipped between 3rd and 4th. that was after a few trips and the tranny was hot. the engine never over heated, but my dad said that it was smoking pretty bad too while i was driving up the road. so i smell a rebuild in the near future. im selling my 94 z tomarrow due to high insurance so im going to have some extra cash to work with. what do you guys recomend i do to the car?

Re: Update on my 89 iroc
i hope that thing is in good cosmetic condition, cause you gonna have to put a lot of work into it to get it right. smoke sounds like piston rings to me, but I guess it could be valve seals too. all the crudd in the engine and the golden brown trans fluid sounds like that car has been severely neglected and abused. I would expect to rebuild the trans and the engine... a lot of work.
