Thumbs up 1995 How Many Miles?

I have a 1995 Aurora. I have just under 190,000 miles on it; most of the miles are from traveling cross-country. This has and is the best car I have ever owned, love it. I have had a few problems with it, had replaced the fuel rail, and the fuel line. But recovered that money thru the recall. Replaced the fuel regular. Had the water pump replaced. Put in a new radiator, which was my fault slow impact collision. Everything else that I have done to the vehicle has been routine. All in all it’s really been a great car. Just wondering how may more miles am I going to get out of it? Anyone have more miles than me? Knock on Wood!

Wow, what an ad for this car.

We are thinking about picking up a 97 - 99 version of the car, and apparently even a 95 wouldn't be so bad. It would be a winter car, we will always have a rear drive for the summer months. How does this car go in the snow and ice, any special precautions or tires necessary? We have a 97 Delta 88, that we use now as a winter car, it has been a great car but it is short on frills and the passenger seat without any adjustments is horribly uncomfortable (and I am concerned about this because that is where I generally sit). I would like to get something as reliable as the Delta but a bit more car.

I have my eye on a 1998 with 42kmiles. It seems a bit pricey but I guess if it is a good car it would be worth it at $10,800 before negotiation. It does have a moon roof, that we would want, is the money about right where it has such low mileage? I haven't seen it yet, just an ad on autotrader. I think this car is pretty complete with memory seats and most of the frills, it has been a while since we looked at one, but I thought it didn't have many options in 1998, it came with all the toys????

Since it will be a winter car, I am a little concerned about the lights, there is a lot of dark in the winter. I did see another post here where someone was wanting to upgrade to a HID system because the lights were not that great. I think that is generally true of most cars of that vintage and our other car has Xenon lights and they are great. Has anyone found ways to improve the lights?

Any information or advise would be appreciated.

Thanks
Barry

Re: 1995 How Many Miles?

Barry,

The 1995 Aurora handles very well in the snow, however I didn’t skimp on the tires. I have Michelin HydroEdge. The car is equipped with traction control, which can be a little annoying at times, but it can be turned on or off.

As far as the frills on this car, the only option was heated seats, which I do not have. Great car for passenger as it has passenger clement control and the same seat as the driver. It’s not the easiest car to get in and out of, but it is a car.

As for the lights, they seem great to me. Doesn’t seem to be an Issue. You also can turn the fog lights on or off. The car has a switch for twilight lights. I have this turned off because when you get into a well-lit road, or highway your lights may turn off thinking it is daylight.

Like I said, it has been the best car I have owed.
