Post Vehicle Speed Sensor '93 F350 Diesel

I think I need to replace my speed sensor on my truck, but don't know where it is located or how hard it is to replace. Anyone know where it is located and what it would take to replace it?

Thanks,

Tony

You say that "you think", why? If you are having speedo troubles, look for the VSS in the top of the rear differential, not in the trans.

It is hard shifting, and speedo does not register speed until about 40mph. I was talking to a guy down at the transmission shop, and he said that would most likely be the problem. Oh, and the OD light is flashing.

First off, get those codes read, then I would bet the VSS in the rear diff is either bad or the connections are getting bad and you are not getting signal.

Hard shifting is often caused by a bad TPS, and they are a ROYAL PITA to replace on these trucks.

Well, replaced the VSS Saturday, and the truck shifts like it should again.

Thanks for the help.
