starter

starter engages for about a half a second spins disengaged from the flywheel. The car starts incredibly easy especially cold ( only takes a bump with the starter). But, when warmed up it may need more than a bump to start, in which case it'll take several tries. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Not sure what the trouble is.

Re: starter

If I'm clear it only engages for a slpit second and you have to do it repaetedly when warm. It sounds like the soleniod in the started is going. You may have to replace the starter.

starter

I went ahead and replaced the starter. Did some research and found that the bendix must have been damaged. It appeared ok to me after pulling the starter. $35 for a bendix and $62 for a complete starter. Tried to picture in my mind what the problem was. I thought if the bendix was bad it wouldnt engage at all.
