Fujimi Amemiya Mu RX-8, paint's Tamiya pearl white w/some extra pearl added to the first coat of clear. Still needs another heavy clearcoat, and more work on the lip spoiler that's ganked from an RX7...I didn't like the GT wing in the kit, and didn't have an extra Mazdaspeed wing that would look great on it. Think it'll get some Aoshima 19's...CE 28's prolly
. Rosso Ferrari 512 TR. OOB, it's painted and polished out Cobra Colors Ferrari Grigio Alloy. Nice color for this car. This is a '65 Chevelle wagon. The original donor kit is a standard AMT 4 door kit, this is a resin conversion 2-door body by Jimmy Flintstone...it was only ten bucks. The donor kit only cost me three bucks . Uses the stock wire-axle wheelbacks, I'm using some deep trim rings and some resin '69 COPO camaro poverty caps for the widened-rim and offset look that sleepers have. I'll keep it a simple curbside. Haven't decided between bright red, or gold, or light "willow green" for paint colors. I think this is the perfect look/stance for this car...it was going to be a full-bore pro-tourer, but this looks better to me.

Re: In-progress...Amemiya RX8, Ferrari 512TR, and an old sleeper Chevelle wagon...
Sweet Chevelle. Are you gonna drop a big motor in there and make it a sleeper or are you going to do it pretty straightforward? that Ferrari looks awesome, too, that color is perfect. Looking forward to your spin on these hot models, you work, especially paintwork, is always immaculate.

Sweetness!
Another 'different' Ferrari is a good thing too. How is that Rosso kit?

Great stuff!! I'm mad because I paid 16 bucks for my Flintstone body!!
. Mine will be a Pro-Tourer if I ever find it again

Thanks for the comments guys!
Willimo -The Chevelle's going to have the hood glued shut. We can pretend it's got the biggest, baddest GM crate motor that can be stuffed under the hood. Ferrari TR - The Rosso TR is very nice-better than Fujimi, a notch above Aoshima, and practically Tamiya curbside quality...and I only paid $14 for it at a store going OOB. The only cheesy thing about it is how the inner side scoops fit, there's a vertical separation line that you have to live with since they molded in the side strakes. Tamiya didn't do any better with their Testarossa in this regard. Tonio - I actually had wanted that $16 version, since it should have come w/an interior (which I would assume has proper two-door door panels). Jimmy doesn't seem to carry that version of the kit, just the $10 bodies that he sells at shows (I got an SSR panel truck too). I'll be tinting the glass so I won't notice the difference, and saved 6 bucks! It's worth $16 anyway, since it's twenty times cooler looking than the four door wagon, a perfect canvas for a pro-tourer .

the chevelle wheels and the silver on the TR looks good. How does the Rosso TR compare to the Tamiya version? Which one looks better?

Quote:
It's really not a fair comparison between the kits, the Tamiya is full-detail and it's an early Testarossa, whereas the Rosso is a curbside and it's a later 512 TR. Maybe a kitbash would get you a full-detail 512TR from this kit-not sure what visual changes would be made w/the engine, or if kitbashing w/the Monogram 512 TR might be better idea vs. the Tamiya kit. The Monogram kit with a bit of TLC would result in an excellent full-detail model. They did a better job w/the side strakes than either Tamiya or Rosso, though none is perfect. I built the Tamiya kit back in the 80's when it came out...it went together well, but my building/finishing skills weren't then what they are now. ![]() I'd say the Rosso parts that you can see (body/wheels/interior etc.) are at least as good as Tamiya's were from the 80's. Engraving/proportions are quite nice, the wheels especially. Veyron was at the store when I found it, I asked him if it was a good kit and he highly recommended it-he's built one as well. It's crisp body engraving is superior to the Monogram kit, which itself isn't bad. I like the styling tweaks of the 512 TR better than the Testarossa...the more modern grille, wheels, mirrors, and engine cover.

Out of the 3 to pick from i'd have to go with the Chevelle as being my favorite.
The RX8 looks great also
