It is finally fixed. It turns out that the plug going into the CPI unit came loose. I unplugged it, wiped it off and plugged it back in. It has been running and starting fine for a week. Thnaks to everyone who helped out.

I got the same issue,but the problem went away when i replaced the distributor cap and rotor,now another problem developed,a very loud poping noises when decelerating and lack of power,no codes in the computer,where is the CPI unit that you reconnected the plug into?,Is it the black round thing at the top of the air plenum?
