Alright, here is the deal i own 1999 Altima GXE and i like the car and dont want to get new one but would like to modify it, something more like a project thing. So if any of you have sugestions, to what could work better.
At this point before i get to paint and additional out side look modifications. Although i ve got new sound system : ). Anyway here is the question. - What could i max out of engine that i have right now? and how much would it cost. - I know i probably wont get much so i came up with an idea what if replace my enigine with Infinity J30 engine instead of my own its 210hp, would it fit my transmition or will i have to get new one, and what would fit as new transmition. thats it, any other sugestions? |

Re: Altima 99 modifications/tuning questions?
my suggestions...
dont take out the ka24de engine you could easily find a turbo it that puts 260 to the wheels assuming you have a manual transmission. if you have an auto, then i recommend keeping it all motor. anyways, since the 99 altima has been around some time it has a lot of aftermarket support. CAI CatBack Turbo kit. i mean of course, you could build your own turbo set up. [ intake exhaust manifolds, turbo, intercooler, injectors, boost controller... etc.] all of that without install would probably add up to 5500 beans. 260 HP to the wheels in such a light car [2800 lbs] with a factory installed LSD is going to have a lot of balls. a lot of people under estimate the 1st and 2nd generation altimas, but these cars can be made into good street racers without spending a ton of money. |

Re: Altima 99 modifications/tuning questions?
you could piece together a turbo kit for the ka for about 2500 and most shops charge about a thousand for install. However if u have a higher milage ka i recomend swapping it with the FWD sr20det. I believe it came in the jdm nissan pulsar

Re: Altima 99 modifications/tuning questions?
i dont recommend swapping that engine into it, you have a FWD car, and the KA produces more low end torque, making it a better drag car, opposed to the sr20det engine, which is made for drifting, and good luck drifting in a FWD car. Just my opinion, not looking to start a fight

Re: Altima 99 modifications/tuning questions?
For reliability reasons i think that swapping to a factory turbo motor is better. I own a 00 and the engine is a little different. One thing is that the comp ratio is up to 9.2 i believe and its pointless to turbo it. Im swaping mine for an sr20det.

Re: Re: Altima 99 modifications/tuning questions?
unless hes looking to run really high boost, he will be fine, the ka24de is built to handle 400hp on stock internals
